A T Shirt Quilts |
T-Shirt Quilts
Custom Made for Your Memories
Are you looking for the perfect graduation gift, birthday present, or a special gift for someone to preserve memories? Do you have an awesome T-shirt collection from your travels, sports teams or hobbies? Put them together to create a memory quilt. I make custom quilts from your T-shirts to preserve those favorite memories.
Prices vary based on the number of T-shirts used, the layout you choose, and the backing you choose.
All quilts are hand made by me. I have a professional long arm quilting machine in my studio and can finish your quilt beautifully with customized quilting. This is a complete service. You provide the T-shirts and the price includes the batting, thread, backing, and binding. I will return a beautiful completed quilt to you that will preserve your memories.
Choose the T-shirt Quilt that is Perfect for You!
Choose from the styles listed below. We will work together to make the quilt that is perfect for you.
The Process for your T-shirt Quilt
Book It
Book your quilt by filling out the work order form in person or on the website. A $100 deposit is required to book your quilt and hold your place in the queue. The spring books up quickly with T-shirt quilts being made as graduation gifts, so book early to secure your spot.
Intake Appointment
One month before your booked quilt you will receive an email to set up your intake appointment. Bring all clothing items to this appointment. If you are mailing your T-shirts, then we will meet via Zoom or FaceTime.
Design Choices
When we start on your quilt, you get to help make design decisions. You can choose your accent colors and backing fabric. You also can choose the pantograph (quilting design) for the quilt to make it personalized. It is your quilt and we want to ensure you are completely satisfied.
Selecting your T-shirts
-
The first thing that you will need to do once you have decided to have a t-shirt quilt made, is to decide what shirts will you use. Keep in mind; we can work with just about any kind of clothing item.
-
Don’t worry if your shirts have tears or stains. We can work around most imperfections and you will be amazed how nice
they end up looking once they are pressed and assembled into your quilt!
-
All shirts should be clean and dried without the use of any fabric softeners or dryer sheets. The coating left behind by these products makes them diffi cult to work with.
-
Once they are all cleaned you need to decide, if a shirt has information on the front AND back, which side you want to use in your quilt, or if you want both. They are many ways that we can work with smaller “chest prints”. Sometimes chest prints have dates and places that are not mentioned on the back. (See the photo gallery for diff erent ways of using these prints). Normally we can add the chest print to the back of the shirt if you are having a gallery style quilt made, otherwise the front and back will be 2 diff erent squares. If the full front and back are used, this will count as two shirts in a gallery style quilt.
-
PLEASE DO NOT CUT YOUR SHIRTS! If you are going to bring your shirts to our studio, then we will go through your shirts and we will make notes about which parts of the shirts you do/do not wish to use. If you are shipping your shirts to us, use a safety pin, a piece of masking tape, (please don't use duct tape as it leaves a sticky residue!) sticker, etc. to indicate which side (sides) of the shirt is to be used.
-
Once you have all your shirts ready you can bring them to our shop, or ship them if necessary.
